The E-Mail Marketing Mistakes That You Shouldn't Make
By: Darren Williger
Email marketing is one of the cheapest ways with which you can transmit or pass information about the products and services that your company has to offer. A lot of businesses fail to develop the same marketing plans that they would do with professional campaigns when trying out email marketing plans. Regardless of whether you're using high-tech internet services in order to market your services or old-fashioned direct mail, you might want to consider employing the same marketing strategy in order to spread information about your company and the product or service offerings that you have.
You have to present yourself and your business in a manner that is as professional as possible. In order to get attention from your customers and give them a reason to see what you have for sale. If you send out a marketing campaign that you haven't fully thought through or understood it won't put you in the forefront of other marketers offering similar services. Email marketing strives to reach as many people as possible with a great message not a terribly packaged one. You have to show these people why they can't do without whatever it is that you're selling. You can easily do this by showing the best of what you have to offer in the best way possible. Before you start out with your marketing campaign, you should be on the lookout for any of the common mistakes that you're liable to make. These potential mistakes are listed here:
Failing to Get Permission from Recipients.
If you buy a mailing list and send everyone on that list email messages without getting their permission from them first, you may end up in trouble. Sending people email without getting permission from them first may be considered as spam and can easily put you into trouble legally and otherwise.
Offering Little or No Real Content.
When all the emails you send to your recipients consist solely of adverts most of these recipients will delete these emails without actually bothering to read them. You should take some time out to add some form of useful content as well as your sales pitch. Some great forms of content that you can add in your emails, include tips, news updates and any other such information that they could find helpful. This way you give them the information they need and still get information about your business out.
-
Making It Too Difficult.
If you want to get people to sign up for your email newsletter and updates, you should take the time to make applications very easy. If you include too many links they will delete the message or skip over to something else and suspend their registration.
-
Using a Personal Email Address.
If you use a personal email in your "reply to" field, it usually seems quite unprofessional. You should always refer any customers that you have to your business website in order for them to get more information.
-
Assuming People Remember Who You Are.
Regardless of whether you already have permission to transmit email marketing information, if you wait too long before you start sending out your program information, your potential recipients may forget who you are and assume that they are being spammed.
-
Ignoring Campaign Reports.
Regardless of the type of marketing campaign that you choose to use, it is extremely important that you follow up your campaign and make sure that your campaign is working properly. Failure to do this will result in failure.
